Easing of the lockdown restrictions has resulted in traffic congestion and anti-social driving behaviour at some of our popular beauty spots. Perth & Kinross Council is keen for visitors and local people to access these areas but is aware of the various road safety issues that have arisen in previous summers. To address community concerns, the Council has introduced Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders for clearway restrictions at selected locations.
Within each clearway, it is a traffic violation to stop on the road for any reason other than an emergency. The restriction can be enforced by Police Scotland and the Council’s Parking Attendants. A clearway is a parking restriction, rather than an access restriction. Property owners, land owners and members of the public will still have access along the road but cannot park. Emergency vehicles and service vehicles, such as the Council’s bin lorry, will be permitted to stop in order to undertake their duties.
Removing parking, and reducing the volume of traffic, will make the road safer for the many pedestrians and cyclists using these routes. Perth & Kinross Council will monitor each site over the summer months, in partnership with Police Scotland, to address any problems that may arise. Clearway restrictions are currently in place at the following locations: (See maps in additional materials)
• Linn Road, Stanley
• Clunie Loch, Blairgowrie
• Marlee Loch, Blairgowrie
• Foss Road, South Loch Tummel
